School update: 24thJuly 2018

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The designated persons for Child Protection are Mr Triggs, Mrs Cromie and Mrs Rigby .

The last week of the Summer term has been a busy one. The children were immersed in Spanish and as part of their learning, performed songs from Spain they had learned as part of an assembly. All of the children have been treated by the PSA to a cinema trip to see The Incredibles, we have held a Family Group session where all the children made friendship bracelets and on Friday we celebrated our Leavers Mass with Fr Richard. After mass, the children of Year 6 entertained with a lively performance of their end of year play. Everyone enjoyed it immensely. After school on Friday evening, the PSA held our annual Summer Barbeque/Fair. The weather has been generous this year for all of our outdoor events and Friday was no exception. A great time was had by all. It wouldn’t have happened without those of you who pitched in and helped, proving that many hands makes light work and I would like to thank all of you who helped even in the smallest of ways. I wish you all a good Summer. I wish all those who are leaving us farewell and good luck for the future. We are always pleased to hear of your successes as you move to your next school.

We say goodbye to four members of our wonderful staff this Summer. Mrs Friel, who has provided our children with endless inspirational Art opportunities over the years. As you walk around the school is bright and thought provoking  with works of art. Mrs Wye who has looked after our children in school and kept them safe outside as our crossing patrol/lollipop lady and Mrs Green TA and lunchtime supervisor. And finally Mrs Godwin, who has served St Louis School as our School Business Manager for many years. I know you will all join with me in wishing both them and their families all the very best in this new chapter in their lives. We are going to miss them all and wish them farewell and good luck.

Well done to the country dancers who have danced at the Summer Barbeque last Friday entertaining the crowds of people with their Maypole, sword and country dancing. And Well done to our Street Dance crew who also performed very well at the barbeque.

Attendance. I often put notes in the newsletter chivvying up attendance when it could be better but I like being able to celebrate good attendance too. These children received a certificate today for their exemplary attendance this year: Tymon, Harry, and Spencer in Reception; Natalia, in Year 1; Aidan, Alissa, Kyle, Matthew, Agata, Odnarnait, Daniel and Clara in Year 2; Natalia in Year 3; Luca, Sam, Nathan, Millie, Maya, Jude, Ela and Gabe in Year 4; Kane, Oscar, Conal, Rosa, Martin, Matty and Izy in Year 5, and Hugo in Year6. Well done all of you.

A reminder: You will be able to pick your child/ren up from school from 2pm on the last day of term – Tuesday 24th July, if you wish. School will not be closed, but many of you find it helpful for the opportunity of leaving earlier than usual.

For those of you wishing to pick up children in Reception, Years 1, 2, 3 and 6 please wait at the classroom doors. For children in years 4 and 5, please wait by the main front door and your child will be collected for you. Children will only be allowed to leave the site with their own parent or if we have written permission from you, with another adult.‚Äč
